Windows 11, up to date, unable to reinstall MyDell. Even rebooted into safe mode to try and improve the situation. I'll try uninstalling ALL Del related, but I have a feeling it's a bug.
The driver to select is Select [Intel RST VMD Controller].
When you see the hard drives, BE CAREFUL as you will now delete ALL partitions from the main hard drive (if you're unsure ask for help!).
Go on to select and delete each partition from the disk on which you want to install Windows 11.
Once your disk is empty, proceed to install Windows 11.
You may be stuck at the login information, as Microsoft will force you to connect to the internet and use a Microsoft Account.
Here I needed to plug in a WiFi USB adapter to connect to the internet and log into my Microsoft Account.
Once I managed to connect to the internet (this step may be an issue for those without an Ethernet connection or WiFi not being detected by the Windows 11 installation), I finished my clean and fresh install and was finally brought back to the Desktop.
You may need to provide the Bitlocker key to unlock any additional drive you have internally/that is encrypted.
Now, go to DELL, install and run (in this order)
DELL Update
MyDELL
SupportAssist
Windows 11 will also begin installing updates in the background so your screen may go black from time to time and you may need to reboot several times.
Basically, MyDELL was installed without issues on the EXACT same laptop with the same version of Windows. The difference is that I did not use DELL's script to install from DELL Recovery which has a small bug but pesky enough that it interferes with the installation.
I also got here because I could not install MyDell with error 2762 as well. I was able to install it and I am documenting it for your information.
Symptoms: In my example, the symptom was that the latest version of MyDell (3.0.412.2, A00) could not be installed after a clean install of Windows 11 Pro on my Inspiron 5330. To be more precise, after a failed installation, and success repair, installation was complete and MyDell was listed in the installed applications. But MyDell was not found and could not be executed when accessing all applications with the windows key.
details of what i did: I uninstalled MyDell (latest version) and reinstalled the old version (3.0.382.1, A00), leaving other software such as dell update installed. The error 2762 did not occur and the installation of MyDell was successful.
Remarks: I have not been able to isolate the cause of the problem, but suspended bitlocker protection during installation and uninstallation. The following dell-related programs were remained during MyDell installation and uninstallation. Dell Optimizer Service Dell Pair Dell Support Assist Dell Support Assist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell update Dell Support Assist Remediation Dell Update for windows Universal
Hopefully someone with more knowledge will understand the situation and find the right way. But I also vote for a bug.
Yes I wasted time twice using the DELL recovery and then resorted to a clean install without the DELL image. But I would prefer the convenient restore / reset function from DELL.
They recently changed MyDELL, which is now standalone (not from the Microsoft Store). I was unable to even try and install the one from the store on Windows 11. Maybe they'll improve this in the future (release A00 is the first I guess).
Please try these steps as a workaround to fix this issue for now:
Uninstall Existing My Dell residuals: In power shell type the command “WSreset.exe”
Check under installed apps locations to ensure My Dell is not there
Reboot your system (do not shut down, chose the option to "Restart")
Uninstall Support Assist (Control panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Uninstall)
Install My Dell app once again.
If the solution above didn't help, please contact tech support by clicking Get Help Now on the bottom right corner of this page. The icon looks like this:
Unfortunately, It didn't help. I didn't mention it in my original post, but I also tried to uninstall every Dell software right after installing a fresh Windows, then try to install My Dell. but it didn't work either.
P.s. before posting this issue here, I tried contacting Dell support. But to be honest, they are virtually inaccessible. Also, I don't think suggesting contacting support privately is a good solution to propose for a bug that affects too many people.
Dear John, Thank you very much for your detailed reply.
Unfortunately, reinstalling the windows again is too overwhelming for me. so I did't have a chance to try this solution. I went with hage's suggestion for now.
Thank you for replying back, I already notified the team that the workaround I shared earlier on this topic is not helpful.
The only reason why I asked to contact the social/tech support is because as a moderator there's not much I can do besides posting some suggestions for troubleshooting/workaround.
But don't worry, once I hear about a final solution, I'll definitely post here!

Thank you for your reply. I've tried that, but didn't solve the problem unfortunately.

I found a solution but it's more involved. You need a USB drive of at least 8 GB, and maybe a USB WiFi device.
The link is https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
I hope this can help.
Cheers,
John

Forgot to mention: I was using the latest version of all apps and my laptop is Vostro 3520 (equivalent to Inspiron 3520 apparently)
