FastAccess setup says "guest account not supported"

I just reinstalled vista home premium on my studio xps 13, upgraded to ultimate, put a password on my user account (which is the admin account) and tried to install fastaccess. however, when i try to open "configure fastaccess", all i get is a window saying "guest account not supported", though i am always on the other main admin account (the guest account is not even turned on). i went to the website of the manufacturer, sensible vision, but it said i need to get help from the dell support website. i was unable to find any product support on the dell website, so hopefully one of you guys out there can help me. any suggestions would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

I'm facing the same problem. After I installed the Vista Sevice Pack 2 update my fastaccess software has been giving me the same problem. I tried everything from a system restore to turning off User Account Control in Vista but still the fastaccess thing is not working. I really want that software, I dont know how to fix it. If you find a solution plz share with me and I'll do the same if I find any solution too.

I'm having the same problem on my Dell studio - I wish someone from dell would read this, and not simply others having the same problem.....

It is becuase your main vista login account has a password set, if you remove it you can configure fastaccess then set it back again.

No. Its nothing to do with the password.  Create another account simply with admin access and try to configure it, this will defnitily work.  I have same issue with my username being   "firstname  lastname"  then i create new account  "flname", it worked!!

You are correct that this symptom has nothing to do with the presense (or lack thereof) of a password. Obviously, though, password protecting your Vista/Win7 account is ALWAYS recommended.

I'll look into the question of a space in the username, though I somewhat doubt that would cause a problem.

Do any of you that are experiencing this have the NOD32 anti-virus program installed? Just curious.

Is anyone still having difficulties with this issue? A simple suggestion would be to create a second account to see if it also has the same symptom. If anyone would like additional assistance, please let me know.

Hi,

Yes, I made a comment before, that, if you only have one account in vista and its not passworded you get this issue, I was poo-poo'ed by some of the more ignorant members here. The issue remains.

E.g.

One account with no password = Fast Access with the guest account supported error.

One account with no password = Fast Access with the guest account supported error.

Thank you for the additional clarification. With this information I went to our testing engineers and asked for help in reproducing the issue.

Although after several tests on different systems we were not able to reproduce it exactly as you stated, I do believe that I now have the proper explanation.

If FastAccess is updated under Vista and you then try to launch the management console before rebooting, the "guest account" error will appear. A single reboot should keep the message from coming back, however. Although the issue turned out to be fairly minor in the end, the issue was resolved in an updated version of software that will be released in the future.

Thanks again for the additional help.

I did create a second (and third) account and still cannot go to options in FastAccess because it says guest account is not supported.  I have Studio XPS 1647 Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit with IE8

What version of FastAccess are you running?

Your suggestion worked for me.  I was able to set options after I removed password.  Then I went back and set password.

Hello there.

I have an M17x and was having the same problem.

I went into services.msc and set FAService to Automatic and started it.

My problem was the service wasn't running. Hope this helps.

Just right click on Fast Access icon and open as Administrator and you're good.
