For anyone else who removed their MS.NET
Following the "Emergency Warning" from Dell Support Tool about the 'patch' that needed to be done to
MS.NET version 1.1, I could see no value of it for my system and removed it.
Subsequently found that it was needed for proper install of some Drivers, Utilities and Programs.
Last week, (November 3rd, 2005) Microsoft released version 2.0 of MS.NET:
{LINK HERE} The .NET Framework version 2.0 improves scalability and performance of applications with improved caching,
application deployment and updating with ClickOnce, support for the broadest array of browsers and devices with ASP.NET 2.0 controls and services.

Last week, (November 3rd, 2005) Microsoft released version 2.0 of MS.NET:

This is a mis-leading statement. The MS .NET applications are distinct and individual. Ver 2.0 is NOT an update to ver 1.0 or 1.1. Ver 1.1 does NOT replace 1.0; nor does 2.0 replace either 1.1 or 1.0.
A program or application that requires 1.0 may NOT work properly if 1.0 is removed and replaced with either 1.1 or 2.0; similarly, problems may arise if 1.1 is removed when 2.0 is installed. For proper compatibility/operation, certain programs may require a specific version of .NET, thus it is possible that in anyone's given PC configuration all 3 versions may indeed be required --or any combination of .NET versions.
Remember the 'P' in PC stands for "Personal".

I now have just the 2.0 and should need arise will
have to find 1.0 and/or 1.2, the program that asked
for MS.NET (and QuickSet) was a TaskBar LCD Dimmer to
avoid the stretch of Fn/arrow keys.
