Microsoft Office 2007 Student with a Dell PC
I have just ordered 2 Dell Inspiron laptops but I only ordered 1 of them with Office student 2007. I have seen that this product comes with 3 user licences but I have also seen a post here that says you only get 1 licences on the laptop it was ordered with. I was going to use 1 of the other licences with the other new laptop but can this be done or have I just wasted £60 with Dell, whereas I could get it elsewhere for the same price with 3 user licences?

Are you sure, as I have seen a post here today that somebody else tried this and it said account full after just 1 install?

You can use the key with an unlimited amount of machines dont worry.

I have the student version which I got from school and have it installed on my 2 home machines and my 2 laptops and its never once asked me about calling to activate it so don't worry you will be able to install it on both of your new machines without a problem.

Hi Dell OEM software is only licenced for the system it comes with. Retail software can be put on 3 systems, but not at once. If that software came on a dell disc, then it is licenced to that system it came with.

Robin is correct. The "OEM" Version that comes with a new PC (whether Dell or some other PC brand) is ONLY legally licensed for use on the computer it came installed on. It is different from the Retail version that can be used on more than one PC.
Download and install the free (they take donations) Open Office www.openoffice.org on the other PC. The Open Office suite of programs are equal to and compatible with the MS Office programs.
