Microsoft Word is not loading

Ok so a little under a week ago, i clicked on the Microsoft Word icon, and when the box showed up, while it was loading, it froze and wouldn't start up, the same goes for all of my docs that i have saved.

i have tryed to locate the Normal.doc, that i've been told to look for and delete, but my laptop doesn't find any such doc.

what can i do to get it to work right???

P.S. by the way, does anyone know why my Norton Virus Protection thing doesn't show up next to my little icons in the taskbar???  you know the little box that has the green check mark in it??

When you use the Windows search, to do a search for the "normal.dot" file also search in hidden folders.  If this file is corrupted you will not be able to open Word.  However, if the file is missing Word will open and automatically create a new normal.dot file.

thanks for the advice, I had my friend's dad look at it, he found out that it was my Norton Anti-virus so we deleted that and now M.W. works

If you removed the Norton Anti-Virus, you need to install an anti-virus program, NEVER operate with out one.
