Microsoft Word runs very slow
I have a Dimension 2400 with 2.2 Ghz, 768 Mb RAm.
Ever since I had the computer, MS Word has been running VERY SLOWLY. It takes about a minute and a half to open!
I have run AdAware and Spybot and Norton... I have no spyware, adware, or viruses.
What else can be causing this? This is the only program that does this.
I have already tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it... it still runs just as slow.

The generic fix for Word problems is to delete normal.dot, the normal template. When you open Word again it will generate a new one. When you search for the file to delete it make sure your system is set to display hidden files and folders.
Uninstalling and reiinstalling Word does not replace normal.dot. If one exists on the computer when Word is installed, it uses the one that is there rather than creating a new one.

I am using Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition.
I turned off realtime protection, and Word still opened slowly.. so I turned realtime protection back on.
I open word, it goes gray for a second, then opens Document 1, looks like I can type.. click where you can type or start typing and then it starts Not Responding type action for 2-3 seconds, then comes in fully to where I can use it.
