MICROSOFT WORKS SUITE CALENDAR
I was using the calendar this morning. However, when I tried to copy/drag an appointment from this week to next week, the program would shut down. And now I can't even open the calendar. I receive a message that states that "Works cannot access one or more of the files to run the Calendar. the files may have been renamed, deleted, or moved. Try reinstalling Works, and then try starting the program again." I reinstalled the program, however still receive the same message. How can I get the program to work, or at the very least visualize the appointments already set in the program???? PLEASE HELP.
Thank you.

HELPPLEASE316,
Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.
I found a reference to your error message in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article. You may want to try the steps listed in this article and see if that helps:
Works: Calendar Does Not Start If You Are Logged on As Power User or User

I don't have Windows NT 4.0 operating system. I have Windows XP. However I tried using the Method 2 to see it that works, however that wasn't in my files. So I found it in the setup disc and copied it to my Microsofts Works shared folder. That tooo did not help.
Anything else you can suggest.Your help is much appreciated.
thanks.

I performed part of the steps that Eleanor recommended, basically replaced the mskwscal.wcd file. However the calendar still didn't work. I would proceed with removing works, however, will I lose the information that is in my calendar right now. Is there anyway to make sure that data can be saved? If so please advise.
thank you.

This backup would work if I was able to open the calendar. But that is the original problem...I can't get to the calendar. I have the error message that works cannot access (see above).
Is there another way I can backup the information in the calendar, prior to deleting the exisiting works program.
Thanks, I appreciate all the help you are giving me.

I was reading other forum members problems with Calendar and there is one dated 7/25/03 from jgugs. My question is since I am not able to backup my calendar assessing it directly, can I use "system restore" and pick a date prior to when this happened to my calendar and be able to access the data from the calendar to create a backup? DId that make sense?
thnks.
