MS Office repair: CAB not on CD
Dell Precision 360; May 04; Windows XP sp1
A recent install of three unrelated CAD applications seems to have corrupted something in MS Office, primarily Outlook. Just one example: I can't open attached files from within Outlook. I get "program not responding". I have to go to Word or Excel to open the file. A Restore Point failed to fix the problem.
So I tried to repair MS Office from the OEM CD included with my system. During the install of new components, I get: "error 1311 - source file missing D:\ZF561407.cab. Repair failed." The closest filename on the CD is ZF612707.cab.
Can you suggest another way to repair corrupted files in MS Office ?

Yes, I did use the Remove Programs icon in Control Panel.
It seems that the Repair function is looking for a cabinet file that's not on the OEM CD. It's possible that my software was installed from a different version of the WS Office installer. I don't think I will be able to get a cabinet file from MicroSoft. That's why I'm checking with Dell. I'm hoping that a Dell Tech is monitoring this list.

I am having the same problem. Brand new 600m with Office Basic.
Outlook crashes every @)(*#$ time I open it; doesn't give me a chance to do anything. I try to repair and I get the same error, with the same missing file name.
I can find nothing in Dell's support site; nothing in MSFT's search site.

h8,
After a Google search, I discovered the "CAB not on CD" error is common, but MS doesn't have a fix yet. So, I simply uninstalled the pre-installed version of Office, and then re-installed from the CD that came with my system. End of problem.
