MS Word is slow to launch
Microsoft Word seems very slow when it launches, opens files and exits (about 40 sec). Can anyone suggest a solution. (I tried to remove MS Word then re-install it. What a fiasco!).

This info I received from someone on the Microsoft Word/applications newsgroup worked for me.
If you're running Word freestanding (not starting it from the Works Task
Launcher) and have not uninstalled the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for
Word, you want to do that (through Windows Control Panel), as it causes many
problems and sometimes corruptions in Word.

Update: I deleted the normal.dot file and MS Word launched quickly. That seemed to be the problem so I deleted it and re-did it in a minimalist form.
