MyDell v2.x UWP App vs MyDell v3.x Full Installer

I am currently using MyDell v2.2.4.0 on my Inspiron 15 5584 / Win 10 laptop.  As far as I know this is the latest MyDell v2.x UWP app offered on the Microsoft Store at https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/my-dell/9PN7T3JFPRZ6, and that Microsoft Store page says this UWP app is compatible with Win 10 Version 1803 (Build 17134) and higher.

Since January 2023 I've noticed other users posting about new MyDell v3.x full installers - for example the current ~ 500 MB installer for MyDell v3.0.447.3 (rel. 28-Jul-2023, MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_J0G9C_WIN_3.0.447.3_A00.EXE) available at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=j0g9c.  This MyDell v3.x full installer is currently compatible with several Inspiron, Vostro and XPS models and according to the MyDell Version 3.0 Release Notes it "delivers intelligent features that automatically fine-tune your system for the best possible audio, power, and performance" and requires "Window 10 21H2 (64-bit) or later and Window 11 21H2 (64-bit) or later operating systems".

After a quick check it appears the new MyDell v3.x is currently being offered to newer Dell computer models that ship with Windows 11, and that compatible models will have the full offline installer listed on their Dell support page (e.g., like the Drivers & Downloads page <here> for the Inspiron 15 3525). My Inspiron 15 5584 is currently not compatible with this new v3.x full offline installer even though I appear to meet the system requirements.

So my question is, are there any plans to eventually replace the MyDell v2.x UWP app with new MyDell v3.x application on all Dell computer models, including systems still running Win 10 v22H2?  If so, will the full .exe installer for v3.x automatically remove the "old" v2.x UWP app?

Hi XPS_Man:

Thanks for the heads up (I mentioned your workaround in dhimansumit4's Can't install My Dell from Windows Store) but at the moment I'm not trying to install the "legacy" myDell v2.x UWP app on my Inspiron 5584 / Win 10 machine.  That legacy app is already installed and appears to be functioning normally, and it recently self-updated to v2.2.6.0 when I launched MyDell v2.2.4.0.

I just wanted to know if there's any specific reason why my Inspiron 5584 machine is not compatible wish the "new" MyDell v3.x when the system requirements <here> state "Window 10 21H2 (64-bit) or later and Window 11 21H2 (64-bit) or later operating systems".

According to documents posted at  https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/mydell/docs this "new" MyDell v3.x app has many more features than the "legacy" myDell v2.x UWP app, and the section "Getting the MyDell" in the support article Introducing the New MyDell document suggests that users should be able to switch to the "new" MyDell v3.x app if they download the .exe installer (currently MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_J0G9C_WIN_3.0.447.3_A00.EXE at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=j0g9c) from their support page.

However, that v3.x installer is not listed on the support page <here> for my Inspiron 5584, so I'd like to know if the "new" MyDell v3.x app will eventually be rolled out to older Dell computer models or if this app requires newer hardware components (e.g., 9th gen or higher Intel CPUs, Dell BIOS firmware versions, etc.) that a Windows 10 machine might not have.

@lmacri MS store is misreading system information (on some dell models) due to which the GET button is missing for My Dell.

The issue is not with My Dell, but also some other Dell apps like Dell Digital Delivery (UWP version) , Dell Customer Connect, Dell Update (UWP version) are also having same isuse.

I have reported this matter to Dell support on multiple tickets (IT admin)

They have acknowledged the issue and are working on resolving it.

My assumption : Third party PC users were installing Dell apps from MS store by changing Store version (REGEDIT) and Dell is trying to stop them. This may be the reason SupportAssist was also pulled back from store and now is only available as .exe installer.

May be a fix will be released soon.

Hi XPS_Man:

Thanks for that information.  That would explain why so many users are currently having problems installing the My Dell v2.x UWP app from the Microsoft Store.

However, that doesn't answer my question about system requirements for the .exe installer for the new My Dell v3.x application that is available on the Dell support site (e.g., like the current MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_J0G9C_WIN_3.0.447.3_A00.EXE offered at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=j0g9c). This new My Dell v3.x application is apparently being pre-loaded at the factory on new Dell machines but the installer is not offered on the support page <here> for my Inspiron 5584, even though I meet the minimum system requirements posted <here> in the v3.0 release notes that state "Window 10 21H2 (64-bit) or later and Window 11 21H2 (64-bit) or later operating systems".

Do you know if there is another system requirement that I am not aware of (e.g., a minimum Dell BIOS version) that prevents me from installing the new My Dell v3.x on my Inspiron 5584?
