Outlook fails to open
I have WIN XP PRO and use Outlook for email. Out of clear blue when I click on Outlook it returns message that Outlook has encountered a problem and must close. It generates error reports that it forces me to keep sending to MS. If I click no to send report, it simply goes back to first error screen. This is then followed by screen saying Outlook failed to start correctly last time and do I want to open in safe mode. After I open in safe mode I'm lost. What do I do next? I have run the detect and repair under the help tab and it installs XP setup successfully. There are also no items on the disabled list. What do I do?
I also believe there is something wrong with my Outlook and Word relationship. When I click on new message in Outlook it tells me Word is either busy or cannot be found. Everything worked fine yesterday. I tried a system restore back to Sunday but it did not fix the problem.
Do I simply reinstall Office XP? If so, how do I do that? When I insert my XP CD there are no instructions as stated. Will a reinstall impact any of my email folders, contacts, or any other files?

djp1966,
That's quite the interesting situation that you are presenting with Outlook and Windows XP. Though there are a few pieces of info that I think people need to know before we have a shot at fixing the issue.
If you can get Outlook to open, hopefully a detect and repair will help you. Otherwise I would start looking for an Office Service pack that includes outlook. or just try windowsupdate.com, and click for Office Update

I have Outlook 2002. It came preloaded on my Dell 8300. Around the time of the problem I downloaded a newer version of my spam filter. I had Spambayes v.8 and all worked just fine since I"ve had it. I just downloaded v 1.0 and then deleted v.8. I did a system restore to a point prior to the download but that did not fix the problem. Other user accounts on my PC do not appear to affected. They can open OL just fine. While in safe mode everything appears to work just fine. The spam filter works like always and so far I've not noticed anything different about OL. I know that I can't change preferences in safe mode or use Word as my editor.
