Problem importing document into Word 2003

Try setting the options back to Word 2000. In Word, Tools, Options, Compatibility tab. Choose Word 2000 from the drop down list.

If this doesn't fix it, let me know.

OK, so the old computer apparently had WordPerfect, then was upgraded to Word. This could be one of two problems. First, your fonts may not be compatible. Try selecting the entire document (CTRL-A) and changing the font. If that doesn't work, it is a possibility the different printer driver is at fault.

Second, it could be a style issue. Again, select the entire document, then press the CTRL-Spacebar keys on your keyboard. This will remove all font applied formatting.

If either of these fix the problem, let me know. (Your document will not look proper and needs to be styled)

Was this an upgrade to Word 2003 on your computer? Or did you use another PC for the original, then open it in Word on another PC?

I checked the compatibility tab as your suggested, and it is already set for Word 2000.

I'm not sure what to look for, there's a bunch of options checked off in this tab, and I'm not sure what would cause quote marks and parenthesis and apostrophes (I forgot to mention they're changed too) to do what they did.

I typed the document up on an older PC that had Micorsoft Word 2000. I checked that computer, and it's compatibility tab is set to 'WordPerfect 6.x for Windows' I tried that in Word 2003 on the new PC and it didn't affect it at all.

Well, that's the odd thing...I purchased the old computer from Dell, and it came pre-installed with Word 2000 as part of the Microsoft Suite. But maybe the setting in the compatability tab was default for Word 2000, I'm not sure.

But, I tried both suggestions you mentioned, neither fixed it. I'm debating whether or not I should try removing Word 2003 and installing Word 2000 on the new PC. I don't care about the new options 2003 has so much, I just want the same word processor I had on the old computer.

One note, I did have Adobe Elements incorporated into Word 2003 and I had to enable Macros...not sure if that was the case on Word 2000 where I typed the original document. Could that be affecting it?

Since this is a large document, I don't know if using a previous version will help. It seems more a style of font problem.
