Reinstall Microsoft Works 6.0

Question

Hey all, I own a Dimensions 3000 running Windows XP Home. I just purchased a larger hard drive on which I want to reinstall Windows and all of my applications from scratch. Though I do have a Windows XP CD, I don't have a CD with Microsoft Works - at least not one that's labeled as such. Is there any way I reinstall Works without the CDs? Thanks for any help! - John

'Is there any way I reinstall Works without the CDs?' - No.   If you have the XP CD, you probably have another CD with the applications which were installed on your computer when you bought it. If not, you can request the CD's from Dell.

works 6.0 ?   That goes back to 2000 (or 2001), so it would be surprising if DELL even has... or will make available... such an old version.   as an alternative, you might consider OpenOffice,  a legitimate and completely free Office Suite 'clone', available for download from Sun Microsystems:   http://www.openoffice.org/   It includes a Word Processor [Writer], SpreadSheet [Calc], Database [Base], Presentations [Impress], Drawing Tool [Draw], and Mathematical Function Editor [Math].   Writer and Calc are very-near-'clones' of Word and Excel, respectively... there may be some subtle differences... but for the price (FREE), you can't beat it   be advised the download is about 100 MEG!

OK, it looks like I'm an idiot. The version of Works I had thought was preinstalled on my Dell computer turns out to have been a version I got with the HP I bought in 2001. So since it didn't come from Dell in the first place, naturally I don't have Dell's installation CD (wipes egg off face). (Although I do still have HP's CD.) I actually do intend to give Open Office a test drive as soon as I have enough spare hard drive to install it (see post #1). Thanks everyone for your feedback! - John
