Reinstalling Microsoft Office 2010

I have a product key on my MPI.  I checked Dell's advice on reinstalling Office, and it says to download the trial version and use the key to activate the full version.

Well...the link takes me to Microsoft, who no longer offers the trial version of 2010 Office...I asked their support, and they said to ask you guys.

Where do I go now?  Is this possible, or do I just need to buy a new copy of office/find alternative programs?

Thanks...

It's one of many.  So...

I tried that link, and it gives me this message when I put in the product key:

 ERROR

The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer.  Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options.

Interesting. We also do not have access to the starter edition. All of my 2010 starter download links are now dead. Seems Microsoft is really pushing their new version. You might find the full version of 2010 on eBay. Or you could use the free OpenOffice until you decide which paid version to go with.

So far, yes. Try this and this.

I appreciate you offering an alternative solution, but...Yeah...OpenOffice is decent, but it's far from the same.

So...the short answer is - no.  I can't get MS Office back...right?  Not without buying a whole new copy?

Office 2010 Starter

First of all Microsoft Office 2010 Starter was a free version of Office preinstalled on Dell systems with Windows 7 OEM. You did not have a MPI card with Office 2010 Starter and you did not have a unique product key. Office 2010 Starter is now completely superseded by the free versions of Office 365 WebApps linked to OneDrive.

Office 2010

Since you do have a MPI card it should state the version of Office 2010. e.g. Home and Student 2010, Home and Business 2010 or Professional 2010.

Unfortunately Microsoft don't have a very good site for Downloading older versions of Windows and Office such as Windows 7, Office 2007, Office 2010 etc. My guess is they are making it deliberately hard to download the .isos in a move to nudge people over to the newer versions.

On the other hand, its just the front pages/landing pages to the Microsoft website which are broken. Jan Krohn has wrote a downloader tool which overrides the limitations of their websites and gives the direct links to the .isos or setup .exes direct from Microsoft's servers.

This tool will get you the installation ,exe that you need to reinstall your product:
