Strange empty Folders?

Dell XPS L702X - Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 Bit - IE8 - McAfee Security Center

With Hidden Files and Folders showing - in the Location C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local - I have 54 empty Folders all with Alpha-Numeric Names such as....

{00F218BD-26FB-4C40-B58D-3E9BDE7091A6}

{1B60291D-9B78-40B1-972B-7232AEF65899}

{1CC52294-D006-48EC-8B05-893D2C7E83A5}

{2A1BF5D2-CBEC-4E51-933D-F5A1215A276D}

It would seem from their Dates that one - sometimes two - of these are created every day

There is no indication of which Program is creating these empty Folders

Apart from Windows Updates I have not Installed any Software since getting this Laptop six weeks ago

Does anyone else have these strange Folders - know what they are or which Program might be creating them?

Thanks

Yes - there's one or two created each day

I think I'll just leave them alone although how many there'll be in a couple of years time I dread to think!

Maybe I'll just Delete a few of the earlier ones each week

Hello Buttercup99

I do not have folders like this, but have seen numbers like the ones you show as apps on a flash drive. Have you used a flash drive with U3 apps on your computer? That might be causing this.

Hello Tom

Thanks for your Reply

The only time I used a Flash Drive was right in the beginning when I used Dell's Data Safe Local to create my Backup for Recovery  - I can't think that would continue to make daily Folders with nothing in them?

I have those folders and many more in that location too. They are harmless and normally hidden. I think they are from windows updates.

Thanks for your reply  - nice to know I'm not the only one with them

If they are to do with Windows Updates then everyone should have them?

I realise they are harmless but do you just leave them alone to accumulate?

It has been suggested to me that they are something to do with McAfee but there's no way of knowing

Edit: Sorry I misread your post, I get them in the same place. I wouldn't worry about them.

I once got them on my external harddisc also, and had to use a program called unlocker to get rid of them, but I don't think you are having that problem.

I don't really have a problem - I was just wondering what they are and whether it's safe to Delete them?

Delete them if you want but they will probably come back.
