Transfer from portable to desktop
I have Office XP small business 2002 (including Publisher) installed on my Inspiron 8200 and Office XP basic 2003 on my Dimension 8300 desktop.
As I do not use Publisher with my laptop, would it be possible to uninstall this software and to install it instead on my desktop, as I am not willing to purchase a new license of Publisher.
What would be the procedure ? How to activate on the new machine ?

As far as I know, OEM software is only allowed on the PC with which it was purchased. (I really don't agree with this, but it's the way it is). If you had purchased the retail version, MS allows one install on a desktop, and one on a laptop.
This is what I recommend to my clients: don't buy preinstalled software. Just buy the PC and purchase the retail version.
(You could call Dell to verify this, if you have some time to wait on hold)

Thanks for this (bad) information. I will have to use my old Publisher 2000 version.
I also received the information that Microsoft "forgets" the activations about 6 months after they are registered and that the software can be activated again.
Is this possible ?
