Trying to create recovry media with datasafe

Hi,

I am hoping for some help please. i have just taken receipt of a inspiron 580 and am trying to create recovery media using the supplied dell datasafe local backup basic edition as suggested. However when i insert the blank dvd, the machine spits it back out with the following error message :-

you have inserted a IDS-RMC_4294967285, a blank DVD,DVD-DL or blue ray disc is required. toal file size is 5.38 GB

i have looked on the troubleshooting pages but don't seem to be able to find a solution. any suggestions of help would be gratefully recieved as i don't want to go + buy a 8Gb usb drive which appears to be the only other solution.

                                                                              Thanks Ian1b

Hi,

just a follow-up to my problem. I have tried using a different make of DVD and managed to create the recovery media. I guess local backup is fussy about what discs it recognises. Hope this helps anybody having similar problems to myself.

                                                                                                                 Cheers,

Yes, this will help others. Thank you for the follow-up.  Which brand worked for you?

My Memorex worked well when I created mine. I guess I bought the right brand. :emotion-1:

Thank you for your reply. It's nice to know about brands that are available at local stores. -- Best Buy, CVS, Walmart, etc.

You won't find anything in the stores that are first quality.

I still have DVD blanks that are made in Japan. These aren't  sold in stores anymore sorry to say.
