Vostro 3450, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Dell System Detect issues
First off, after I bought this used and ran the first Dell System Detect which ran fine but the results were in Czechoslovakian. I was able to translate w/ Google to see the results were fine. Then it all started my Vostro 3450 after the results were showing that my Vostro was a XPS L502x (15") ? Then I went into the configuration and saw it started as a Vostro 3450 w/500 GB HD in Czechoslovakia and apparently when it ended up in the USA the Dell configuration now said it had a 250GB HD. Under the XPS specs it still said Vostro.
So I figured that perhaps I would reinstall the operating system with my OEM Windows 7 Pro 64 Pro reinstall disc. Then all the fun started. When I tried to run the diagnosis for the drivers it would switch back to the XPS drivers which only showed a few and started I had to install manually. They did not work.
So back into the Vostro drivers and manually installed them without the System Detect. It was quite a pain!
So now I finally have all the yellow icons corrected in the Device Manager as I hopefully found all the correct drivers for the system. The laptop seems to run great with the exception of the System Detect. So I uninstalled the program using Revo and reinstalled the program and ran it from the Dell/Vostro site. The test started and ran for about a minute and showed passed but had a not that it did not run all the tests. So I ran it again and this time I saw a warning that the System Detect was already running and I could wait till that test was over to run mine or just cancel it. For the heck of it I just let it run overnight and in the morning the test was still stuck in the same place.
I have run the F12 built in test on the Vostro 3450 and everything passed. At this point, is there any fix to get the System Detect to run on my laptop again? What could cause this issue? I did follow some online steps to delete the PCS? folder and reinstall the detect and that did not work either.
Is the built in F12 test as good as the Dell System Detect text?

First, your OEM Windows 7 Pro 64 bit reinstall disc was legally assigned to the computer it originally shipped on. Anyway, was that original system a Vostro laptop?
Second, when you installed Windows 7, did you allow the installation to partition/format/erase the hard disk drive?
Boot into the BIOS. On the Main page, what is shown for "Fixed HDD" ?
If it were me, I would purchase an OEM Windows 7 Pro 64 bit CD made for the Vostro 3450 and start over. I would allow the installation to partition/format/erase the hard disk drive.
