Waves MaxxAudio Gone while running Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi DELL--Rajath N & Kiran;

I saw your very excellent support you've given to many users here on the Dell Support Forum. I've been on the phone several times with many good Dell Technicians.. but nobody can seem to figure out how to get my MIDDLE Waves MaxxAudio button to work. I have a great machine- a Inspiron 17R SE 7720 running Windows 7 with 8gb of ram, 1tb hard, and a 2gb nVidia GeForce 650M video card. Initially the MIDDLE Waves MaxxAudio button worked but stopped!

The BIOS is still A01 (even though the latest BIOS is A11- I was told today by Dell NOT TO UPDATE the BIOS). I did indicate I tried to update the BIOS, but like I said the Dell Tech said I wouldn't be able to apply the update to this machine!

How do I get the MIDDLE WavesMaxx Audio button to work? When I select Dell Audio in the ControlPanel- it does nothing!

Please help me!

Hello,

I've been on the phone half-a-dozen-times with Dell and have come to no good conclusion. I purchased a Hardware & Software warranty- but Dell won't take back the computer so they can re-install the correct driver to make it work. They've sent me a few different drivers and they didn't work. I've saved everything to a 'Click-Free' hard drive and reformatted the hard drive with the USB stick I made when I first got the Dell. That still didn't work- and Dell has no comment.

So, I'm cutting my losses and am eBaying the Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720. I've spent too much time trying to get this piece of garbage working.

I still enjoying my Dell Latitude D630- even though it is a Core 2 Duo 2ghz machine and it runs Windows XP.

I really can't say many good things for Dell's Tech support... If I knew how to speak Hindi (everyone is in India) I'd be able to get good service.

The best thing I can tell you is GET A MAC! My MacBook Pro and iMac is way more stable and Apple's Tech support is the best!

Regards!

Hi applguy,

I appreciate your efforts to troubleshoot the Wave MaxxAudio button issue and for the detailed explanation. I suggest you to update the audio drivers and check if you are able to use the WavesMaxx Audio button.

You can download the drivers from the following link:

Please let me know about your findings.

Hello Again.. Dell-Rajath,

Thanks for responding to my last question about the Wave MaxxAudio button issue. I took your suggestion and followed the driver download for that link. I did notice after I downloaded the file that the Audio driver is for a 5520 Dell- not the 7720.

After downloading the file, I tried to install it on my machine. It started up fine, runs a dialog, and then says it's installing. I left it overnight (9 hours) and when I checked it in the morning it was displaying the same dialog the next morning. I left it the rest of the day and still says the same thing. I restarted the machine but still no Waves MaxxAudio.

When I select the Control Panel "Dell Audio" it still does nothing. I guess I could try to uninstall Dell Audio via RegEdit- but I think this messes with the Registry which makes me nervous! I called Dell again- and they said although I have a hardware/software warranty... I should purchase an external drive, run a backup and then erase the hard drive and reinstall / restore the machine from the 'Dell USB Stick'!

I mentioned to the Dell Technician that my machine has the 32gb SSD in it and then they asked for the Express Service Code. I got put on hold for a while and then was handed over to a Supervisor who told me to make sure I backed up the internal 1tb drive to the external and restoring from the USB Stick would be tricky because of the SSD.

If I knew this machine was such a hassle- I'm thinking I should have got the higher end Alienware Dell for the better video card.

Do you have any suggestion what I should do now Dell-Rajath?

Hi applguy,

Thank you for your reply and for providing an update on the status. I suggest you uninstall the Audio drivers from “Programs and Features”. Please install the audio drivers provided in the link below:

The driver provided in the link is compatible with Inspiron 5520 and 7720. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Sorry, I don't know.

I got rid of the Dell and never looked back!

I have an Apple MacBook Pro now and don't have any trouble with my Audio
