XP: Incoming Call Pop-Up Window?

Question

Is there a way to set XP so that when I am connected to my ISP, it will alert me with a pop-up window when I receive an incoming call and give me the option to disconnect and take the call?

I have used this feature on a different 4100 with XP. However, this feature does not appear to be enabled on my new 4100 with XP, because friends and business associates have not been able to get through to me.

I also would like the answer this problem. I am desperate for the pop up window to pop up and alert me to an incoming call.

I have a brand new dell dimension 8300 with windows xp professional and I cant find the tick box to enable this feature

Please advise thanks

There's separate forum sections for Modems and for Networking. One of those two forums would be more appropriate for your questions. Neither has anything to do with this forum section, MS Office Products, which is for applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

If you post in the most appropriate section of the forum you have a better chance of getting an answer or a faster answer.

I do not know if you actived the incoming call alert feature but this is how you do it.You need to be offline to do it at least I did it that way.First you need to go to your provider and uncheck the box for call waiting (you need call waiting for it to work) then you need to go to your control panel in XPthen click on change view to classic view  look for the Intel modem on hold (it looks like a phone) double  click it you will get setting for modem on hold then click show on traybar and launch at windows start up and make sure that the ingore all calls tab is uncheck. Thanks for your reply.  I had forgotten about this because I reposted elsewhere and was told that  I would find that I would not be able to have this service as  I have an AOL browser.  I also looked on some other sites which suggested that I woudl find that AOl did not allow it to occur. I did try what you have suggested but was unable to        view some of what you had suggested so I am assuming that it is because I use AOL. Thanks again. from Lucimir

I have just  did a mini surf on the internet and found references to AOl actually blocking/ switching/ disabling  call waiting.  ( How nice of them ) from Lucimir

I know but you can disable it.Click on AOL but don't sign in but click on edit options got to where it says edit modem click it then find your modem then click on edit uncheck I have call waiting.and save changes.This should do it.So far it is working for me
