My 3200MP has these horizontal bars that flicker and chaneg color. See attached pic. Of course its out of warranty. Anyone know what part should be replaced? There is one white bar in the middle that you can actually see black pixels on it.
Anyone from Dell or from the forum will help with this issue? Its hard to have an expensive out of warranty equipment and have it in a drawer due to this situation.
i actually went and bought the new 3400MP projector becuase I could not get any support from Dell on this issue. The only thing they did was give me the website of a projector repair place. I beleive the cause of this problem is a bad DMD board, or just the DMD chip itself. But Texas Instruments is the ONLY company that makes these parts and the wont sell them to the public.
i have the same problem. why is it that when the warranty is up there is no support for these things. no one will sell me parts. there is no place to order parts from. i have to send it out to repair facility. i know the problem, and can fix it myself if i had the parts. why doesnt dell sell the parts??
the part you are referring to is the color wheel. All that is is a glass disc with that is split into 4 diffrent colors and spins. I wont go into the technical workings of DLP, but ill just tell you that a crack in this is not what is causing those lines. If anything you would get sort of a rainbowing effect from a damaged color wheel, but for the most part the image would look normal. I have a few of these projectors and swapped every part in the broken one with parts from a working one, and narrowed it down to the DMD board or DMD chip
If you pull out your buld and look in the small hole that the bulb shines through, you may see a crack on, what I am guessing is the LCD or some form of lens. You may have to power it on and off a couple of time to possible see it. If that is indeed your problem. The thing that has the crack spins, this is what is creating out lines, as far as I can tell.
That is the problem for one of our Dell 3200MP projectors. I am looking for a parts manual for this projector or a place that sells the parts. If any one knows of where I can find that info. It would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem with my projector too, and Dell wouldn't give support once the warranty is up. i looked up the DMD board and i think 4start has the part available, i'm not too sure. this is the link
i have open my projector to pieces check everything to the lcd and the DLP Chip, all the reflecting mirror etc i check, i put it back together and i still get the lines.
but i looked at everything and i saw no crack oon anything. some spoke about the color Wheel?
Yeah, the color wheel was fine. I believe that anpbabaki is right. And If you have found a place to get the part, some one should try it and see if it fixes it. I will try to post some Pictues of the dissassmebled unit to help ID the parts we are talking about. As I am not truly sure my self.

yeh it is the one with the DLP chip. its like one board (behind the lens/mirror tunnel) with the LCD (something that looks like a mirror) and the DLP CHIP (the DLP chip has its name on it). i'm trying to get the part as soon as i get it fix i would let you know.
I bought these 3200MP projectors for a small school district--my boss wants them fixed and he found this link: https://www.mk-electronic.de/PDFDokumente/Acer/Projector/PD110z.pdf It appears that the DMD board and chip can be picked up separately, I'm going to check on it locally, otherwise we'll be buying throwaway projectors (with the same 2-year warranty) instead of this type of machine. Will keep in touch, thanks for the info so far. bug
