Does 'hiding' the image save lamp life?

Question

For the dell 2300 projector, does using the 'Hide' option on the remote save on lamp hours?  Or does it simply not show an image- and that's it?   Thanks in advance!

I don't think it does help with the lamp life.  When you press 'hide'  I beleive the DLP chip is simply reflecting the light away from the lens.  It is the equivalent of putting a black image that covers your entire screen.  The hide is basically there if you don't want to be blinded by the light but you don't want to turn the projector off.  (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

if that is in fact the case- does anyone think it's a big deal to turn the projector off for 10-15 minute intervals- then flip it back on when I come back? What I'm trying to accomplish is being able to step away from the projector and not using up lamp life.

Or...is there a way to call the power saving mode using the remote?

It does not save lamp life as the lamp is still on. The only mode that saves lamp life is Eco Mode.
