What’s the Passing Score?

This is a frequently posed question in the community.   

Passing scores are set on an exam-by-exam basis.   We use a statistical analysis of exam content and work requirements to set the passing score.  Like most other major IT certification programs, the EMC Proven Program doesn’t publish exam passing scores because exam questions and passing scores are subject to change without notice.   Passing scores may change over the life of an exam as questions are updated with new information or as work requirements evolve.  

When you complete an exam at a Pearson VUE test center, you can view your provisional results on the computer screen.  (To learn more about provisional scoring, read this discussion.) You will see your overall score, scores on each section, and the passing score in effect on the day you take the exam.  You will also get a paper copy of these provisional results at the exam center.  Your official score, and the passing score on the day you take the exam, will typically be shown in your CertTracker account 24-48 hours after taking the exam.  If you do not see your results in CertTracker, contact EdServices@EMC.com.
