Hello

Restoring a backup shouldn't affect the virtual disk size on the RAID controller unless you are using some type of backup software that is capable of backing up and restoring virtual disk information. I suggest that you check to make sure it is not the partition size that is changing. You can boot into the controller BIOS to check the virtual disk information. If the virtual disk size is changing during the restore then you should get help with your backup method.

I did go through to set up the new raid. I set it to raid 5. With the 4 1TB drives it was a combined space of about 2.7 TB of space. After the restore from my back up, the HDD space showing was that of what was from the original back up. It did change the size of the HDD to that of the back up from what I had set it to. And on the original back up, all the drives were 300 Gig, there were 4 of them. As I stated in the OP, I am using windows back up utility that comes with Windows 2016 Server. And this is what my OP is asking, what did I not set up correctly while using the Windows back up utility to do a Bare Metal back up? Or, would another program work much better? If so, what is the name of the back up utility and what is the cost? Free is best for me since this is a home server not one used in a commercial location.

Thank you for your input, but you did not answer anything that I asked and all you did was repeat the steps that I already said I went through. And you reiterated what I was asking for.. Help with my back up method.
