Expand RAID 5 array on Dell PowerEdge R730xd server
I have a Dell PowerEdge R730xd server that currently has 3 hard drives in a RAID 5 array. Today I will be installing 9 additional hard drives. What process do I use for extending the existing RAID 5 array so that it will include the additional 9 hard drives?

Hello,
Here's a simple video of how you can do this from within the BIOS menu.

Wow. A 12-disk RAID 5 is a pretty horrible idea. You should not be using RAID 5 anymore, especially if the drives are 1TB or larger or non-SSD. I would recommend a RAID 6 instead.
That said, you can also do this from the OS using OpenManage Server Administrator - Storage, PERC, Virtual Disks, and Reconfigure from the dropdown of Available Tasks for the RAID 5.

Follow the path in OpenManage Server Administrator that Flash had mentioned, Storage, PERC, Virtual Disks, and Reconfigure from the dropdown of Available Tasks, and you'll be able to add the additional drives.
OpenManage 9.3: https://dell.to/2U5LVEb
I would also recommend looking at a RAID 6 compared to a RAID 5. The extra fault tolerance can really make a difference as arrays get larger. There would be a performance hit for the double parity calculation, but it would buy you reliability.
