Firmware update of XXV710 from 18.8.11 to 22.5.7 fails
Hello,
our customer tries to update XXV710 NIC on R740 from the firmware version 18.8.11 to the 22.5.7 but the update via iDRAC fails with following error:
"Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory or the component is disabled for performing the update."
The NIC is not listed in iDRAC Firmware Inventory. It is seen just in the System -> Overview -> Network Devices:
Firmware image: Network_Firmware_1R0W0_WN64_22.5.7_A00.EXE
BIOS; 2.21.2
Idrac: 7.00.00.173
The 18.8.11 is the original firmware version when the server was shipped and installed to the rack.

Hello,
thanks for the information. I proposed it to our customer. Nevertheless it seems they might have problem to use a Linux OS on the servers as it is used for Nexenta.
Is the above described issue know? I ask to know whether there is real chance that the installation from the OS level will work (from iDRAC the issue is still the same).
Best regards,
Tomas

Hello,
Thank you for your message. The described issue is not a known problem. However, installation from the operating system level usually works without issues.
Another possibility would be to try installing an intermediate version of the operating system before proceeding with the final version. This could help identify if the problem persists across different versions of the operating system.
If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
xtomkrb

Hello,
I have one more question. According to the customer the firmware upgrade to 22.5.7 from the OS level passed. Nevertheless the NIC is still not listed in iDRAC Firmware Inventory. Also the firmware update via iDRAC GUI refuses the firmware:
"Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory or the component is disabled for performing the update."
Is there any explanation for this behavior?
Regards,
Tomas
