I just bought from amazon a refurbished Dell Powered r730xd but he sounds and behaves at boot different then my previous one!

Could someone watch the video and tell me if it is normal for a Dell Powered r730xd the front 24bay version also look at the screen at some point he goes off and restarts like also the fans!

Thank you for any response!

Hello performing a cold boot is recommended and see if it's still the same, the B5 memory is to be replaced most likely. Before that you can also try swapping A5 and B5 as for a test as well.

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.

As you maybe aware there’s no definite value on how high/low fan decibel should be.

First of all, could you make sure if everything looks okay with your system through Idrac?

Another thing I could think of is cleaning your fan.

Hope other members here to chip in here to see what other ideas they have.

@DELL-Young E from my side as I have checked the ideas no errors or so i was just wondering because the start process behavior was a bit different then my other 12bay front dell power edge r730xd on the previous v3 cpu!

Hello, once again, it looks normal to me from the video that you posted.
If you have any concerns or doubts you can run a full hardware diagnostic from LCC.
Clear SEL and run the test.

During post it has to calibrate the fans and it goes full speed than settles down.

The tag sent through DM also has no history of any repairs so as good as it can get for 10 year old server, I assume.

If you want a second opinion you can also raise a ticket through https://dell.to/42nkZUo

@DELL-Young E I am totally fine with your opinion I will just run some day this week a diagnostic, I just wanted to make sure since the server behaves a bit different during loading in comparison to my other 12bay 730xd and I wasn’t sure if it is normal or not I just wanted to get confirmed it is normal!

thank you for your time!

@DELL-Young E I ran today a test and got an error with the ram!

So I just need to get a new ram right? Look at the screenshot I got this twice since I thought the first time i haven’t cleared the sel correctly but second time I got the same!

Thank you for performing the test, that does confirm that the issue is specifically with that dimm. I would suggest replacing it.
