Ipmi Port COM

Question

Hello Community,

Can you help me to explain how to configure port COM for ipmi ?

The default port is COM2 ? How to check that ?

Is that possible through Idrac Gui ?

I am using idrac8 and the server version is PowerEdge R730.

Hi,

Apologies, but I'm not understanding your intention what do you need for IPMI configuration? Are you trying to console through IPMI?

Here would be the server's iDRAC 8 manual, if you searching using IPMI, you might be able to get what is needed.

Hi,   Thanks for your update. My concern is to choose com2 or com1 for the console redirection of ipmi SOL. How to choose or modify it ? It's configured by default to use COM2 ? Thanks and Regards

If you need ipmi SOL to work with COM1 you need to make below changes in BIOS

Serial Communication : On with Console Redirection via COM1

Serial Port Address : Serial Device1=COM2,Serial Device2=COM1

Can you also share iDRAC FW version on your server

Hi,   The port would be default, COM2. It cannot be modified. Page 113 on the manual.
