License DD3300

Hello,

We have a DD3300 that suffered a disaster; we lost data and had to start from scratch by resetting the equipment's settings.

We configured everything, applied the licenses, but we are having a volume problem that we suspect is related to the license.

We have 40TB physically installed (10 x 4TB drives), but only 16TB is available for use.

I need help understanding this and can provide screenshots of the equipment. Thank you.

IIRC the DD3300 was available in a 16 or 32TB version (and IIRC a smaller one also). The unit comes oversized so that a customer can apply a license to get more capacity without fiddlying with the Hardware.

I have in mind that a RAID6 is used so 8x4TB = 32 and with your current license 16 are usable.

We are also once faced a disaster and lost all backups and re-image the system.

Regards,

Joerg

Hello

Could you check the serial number of our equipment to see if everything is correct with the license or if any licenses are missing?

I am pretty sure it will be looks exactly the same with the differenz we bought it in 2018 or and update it on a regulary bases. The last update failed because unit always reports "busy".

Again.... i dont see something wrong. You bought a 16TB unit and Dell ships 32TB of storage which let a customer buying a additional license when a capacity expanion is needed.

They didnt told us that there is a ESXi running the DDVE when we bought it :(  The DD3300 was slower than the older DR4100.

I've had similar incidents with other equipment at other companies I've worked for, and Dell always sent me the iDRAC licenses, etc.

I need someone from Dell to review this post and contact me via private chat to send me the licenses we have for this service tag, because regardless of what you say, we were using the 40TB...it must be a license acquired later that the previous team didn't save or document. I await Dell's response!

A DD3300 was availale as 4,16 or 32TB edition and there was no 40TB one. A DD3300 is more a EMC rather than a Dell product and they will  not send mails with licenses as Dell ProSupport sometimes do for iDRACs.

Based on your Screenshots you have never re-image the system and i'll asume that the same license is in place as when you bought your DD.

Did you take a look into your Dell Digital Locker(Dell Software as they named it today).

Joerg
