MD3200 raid controller replacement

I once needed to change a dual controller system to a single controller system. Please read the below with great care and only follow any instructions if you are 100% certain and have a good working backup. 

To do that I used the cli command

set storageArray redundancyMode=simplex

In your case I think you need to set your current controller to duplex mode. This will probably show some alerts once you do it as you will have the second controller removed.

Once you plugin the new controller this should become available for configuration and will be able to provide high availability, depending on host configuration.

The command to check your current redundancy mode is:

show storageArray summary;

Under the Hardware Summary section you will find something similar to the below. The below is the output for a dual controller system. Yours should say 1 for Raid Controller Modules and Consistency mode should be simplex. 

RAID Controller Modules:                     2                                      
      Consistency mode:                         Duplex (dual RAID controller modules)  

The command to change to duplex mode is:

set storageArray redundancyMode=duplex

Before you do anything:

Obviously have a good working backup before doing this as there are no guarantees this will work.

Thanks for the help, we did the below steps

1. We have removed the Battery on the controller that we purchased and kept for 30 min.

2. we change the mode to Simplex to Duplex.

3. We connect the new controller while MD3200 online and wait for the configuration and firmware copying.

4. New controller detected and set the ip address for that.

We also want  to know one situation as if both two raid controllers are failed and how do we restore the same setup?

I mean how to backup this existing raid configuration and Virtual disk setup.
