Oracle Linux Enterprise 6.7

We would like to confirm if we can run Oracle Linux Enterprise on R640. on the oracle website. it only says R640 is compatible with 6.9 and R630 is compatible with 6.7. Does the R640 has a backwards compatibility on 6.7?

Here's the list of supported operating systems on the R640:

Oracle isn't on there, unfortunately. However, there is some crossover with the R630 and R640 in that they both use the same PERCs. So, at least the storage controller driver should be there. I would expect that it will likely work fine in UEFI mode, you might need to toggle to BIOS.

I just downloaded a copy of Oracle Linux 6.7 and mapped it via the iDRAC. The server flat out would not boot to the image in UEFI mode, but did in BIOS. I didn't get much further than that though, because the installer froze after completing a media check. I tried one last time and the installer looked more promising, however it failed when it tried to mount the file system in BIOS mode. I gave it another 20-30 mins of trying various settings, but no real success.

The test server I have is an R740, however.
