OS Driver Pack 25.08.04 firmware fails

Has anyone noticed any issues with this service pack 25.08.04?

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-lc/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=rmg6p&oscode=naa&productcode=poweredge-r650

Until about a month ago, I started to notice over several models of 15th gen server (R650,R750), the OS driver pack is constantly failing. The current OS driver pack these are running is 25.02.05 and updating firmware via iDRAC always pulls the newer OS pack but it always fails over multiple systems and lifecycle logs will show

"failed because The DUP specified is not compatible with the target device"

I also tried booting into Windows Server 2022 and ran the .exe file for the OS Pack and after 45min of trying to update, I get an error that the version is not compatible.

My question, is the latest OS driver pack 25.08.04 not compatible even though downloads.dell.com keeps attempting to upgrade to this firmware?

When I go through the Lifecycle to update I get this error. Seems to be an issue with this latest OS Driver Pack.

Hello,

I haven't heard of any others with this issue, yet.

I know you are well skilled at this. Can you verify you using these steps?

To apply the OS Driver Pack;

Installation directions:

You can update the Driver Pack using Lifecycle Controller.

1. Copy the file: Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_RMG6P_WN64_25.08.04_A00.EXE to a USB device

2. Plug in the USB device and enter in to the LCC Platform Update

3. Select the USB device and navigate through the directory contents to find the executable and use the Windows .exe file.

It looks like you are using this specific OS Driver Pack 25.08.04 on a supported OS and Platform:

Supported OS List:

Microsoft Windows Server 2022

Microsoft Windows Server 2025

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 x86_64

Compatible Systems:

Dell EMC vSAN R650 Ready Node

Dell EMC vSAN R750 Ready Node

PowerEdge R450

PowerEdge R550

PowerEdge R650

PowerEdge R6525

PowerEdge R750

@DELL-Charles R

Initially I tried updating through iDRAC, after that kept failing. I loaded the .EXE file on a USB and went through the lifecycle>firmware update and selected the .exe and got the error message from my original post.

Something else I noticed with this OS pack that is having issues is there are no previous versions like other OS Driver Packs on Dell's Website. The current OS Driver pack on my updated R650 is 25.02.05 but that version is no where to be found on Dell's site. The only one I see is 25.08.04 which keeps failing. Is 25.02.05 driver pack no longer supported?

Hi,

I was able to simulate your issue on one of the test unit here in the lab, the update file might be missing DUP package signature for the model server. I manage to try a workaround with DRM, Dell Repository Manager by manual creating the SUU ISO, selecting R650 model and OS drive pack from Applications and the update via LCC was successful.

Furthermore, I cannot find version 25.02.05, engineering could have removed it. Here's 25.04.03 though: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-my/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=ry43k

Our Dell OME shows this issue too with several of our hosts running ESXi8 ie. the drivers pack mentioned is for Windows only so unsure why it shows up against our vmware hosts?

To add, we cannot update it for any of these hosts as we get the same error as others ie. it is incompatible.

I usually put this down to an "error" somewhere in the latest catalogs and someone, somewhere gets them updated eventually.

Hello,

This is likely a catalog issue. The ESXi_catalog is update once a quarter so it may be corrected around December. I don't have a confirmed date.
