PE KVM 180AS 2 Questions

Hey there,
I just got an 180AS.

I've got two questions regarding the device and hope that someone can assist.

1.) The Serial cable required for the upgrade, any specifics for it? I have a 9pin serial cable I've used for a remote serial console, but it doesn't appear to be working.

2.) PEM - I have a PEM that I was hoping would work with the 180AS as the documentation online says the KVM supports them. The PEM I have is 2P460. Any idea if this is a supported PEM?

Thanks in advance!

I did try to use the WUpdateDELL available on support.dell.com, but the utility said "ERROR: No product connected!"

The PEM came off a working installation on a 2161DS and it looks exactly like the one you in the page you referenced.

The serial cable is a straight through cable and is used to upgrade the firmware for the 180AS. You will need to run the firmware.exe which is an executable firmware program. It is not like the remote serial console which you use a hyperterminal session to view the firmware management screen. Just run the firmware.exe file and it will automatically upgrade your switch. 2.) I don't believe that you have the proper PEM module. Please check this website and make sure that you have the right PEM module. http://www.partnerpages.info/dell/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=30

I managed to do the firmware update, so that issue is resolved. Just the PEM at hand now.

Their is only one PEM model and it works with all Dell KVM models. Is it connected to a SIP adapter to the server connected back to the PEM?

The firmware update got it working.

Thanks for the effort that was put into this!
