PERC adapter with ZAC / ZBC support
Hello.
Is there any PERC adapter that does support ZAC and ZBC command sets from ATA specification? That can be used in HBA mode.
I currently have a H330 mini in a poweredge R740, which clearly does not support, so I need to replace it (preferentially with a mini version), and I'd rather add a PERC than going to a 3rd party adapter.

Hi,
No, Dell PERC adapters do not support ZAC/ZBC, even when set to HBA mode.
This applies to all current PERC models, including H330, H740, HBA330, and similar. If your application requires ZAC/ZBC (typically for SMR drives), you’ll need to look at a third-party HBA that explicitly supports these command sets Dell doesn’t offer this functionality on their controllers.

@DELL-Erman O Thanks, this does help indeed. Is there any list of 'supported 3rd party adapters'? In theory any PCI-e adapter should work, but I'm relatively new to dell-specific hardware so I want to make sure I don't buy anything that can't be used.

Dell doesn't provide a 3rd party list, as that would be a massive list and would change daily. With that being said, it would be based on trial and error, but if the voltage and specs are close to the Dell Perc they should work, we just couldn't be certain.
