Power edge 2850 AO7 Bios. Windows Server 2008 problem loading

So I have an old power edge 2850 its running and boots how ever I have 4 HDD's installed and it says "Remove disks or other media press any key to restart" on top of that when it was loading it got halfway saying "Loading files" but never went any further. Any advice on what to do from here? Im trying to get it to boot off of an external drive with windows server 2019.

Do you mean the OS would be INSTALLED TO an external drive and that would be your host OS? Yeah, THAT can't be done.

If you mean you are trying to BOOT to a Windows INSTALLER on an external (USB) drive, then yes, that is possible on a 2850. We would need to know how you prepared the installer in this case to see what went wrong.

The 2850 does not support Server 2019. In fact, many people have reported it will not take Server 2016 or even Server 2012 even - as in they can't even get it to install/run for a variety of issues, but I don't have one to test with. Runs 2008 R2 fantastically though.

Luke132,

The issue will be that the 2850 doesn't support 2019, the latest supported OS version would be 2008R2. Also the server isn't intended to boot from an external source drive.

Hope this helps.
