PowerEdge R730 failed to power ON

Hi All,

I do have one Dell PowerEdge R730 server where fails to boot.

I removed the HW components to post configuration:

  • CPU 1
  • 1 DIMM in Slot A1
  • 1 Power Supply in Slot 1
  • Control Panel (Which component that means?)
  • Riser 1

Sadly still not boot up to Bios, did I missed something?

On the Mainboard the DS_LED0 stay after power cable has been plugged to PSU01. (Refer to enclosed screenshot)

Would it help to try a NVRAM_CLR?

InitZero1999,

While close the minimum to post configuration you used isn't accurate. The minimum to post for the r730 is

  • System board
  • One power supply unit
  • One processor (CPU) in socket CPU1
  • One memory module (DIMM) installed in socket A1
  • Left control panel (for power button functionality)
  • One backplane card

So remove everything from the server, internally and externally, but the items listed above, then try to post. If it does post then individually reinstall each part till the issue reappears, indicating the part with the issue.

Now if still doesnt post then it is likely one of the devices listed above that has failed, so you could try swapping them out individually with known good ones to test.

As far as the Control Panel it is where the power button is.

With the DS_LED0, that light being on steady is indicating "System is in power-up state"

Laslty, you can try doing an Nvram clear, but I am not sure it will be successful.

Let me know if this helps and what you see.
