R820 startup memory test...
This question is based on the assumption that when you hit the DELL logo BIOS splash screen and it takes forever to load unless you hit Esc, that it is doing a memory test... If that is true then my question is:
I can't seem to get my R820 to automatically skip the memory startup test. The BIOS has the startup test set to disabled but it still does it. I have tried Memory Optimizer Mode and Advanced ECC Mode. I can't seem to get it to skip that startup delay.
There is an MD1200 attached to it through a PERC H810 card. Any ideas what the delay is? Thank you!

Hello there,
First, please check if the BIOS is up to date. A few steps can be taken to speed up the POST time a little.
* Access the BIOS (F2) "System BIOS" "Memory Settings" then Disable System "Memory Testing".
* hit F2 key on post to access the "System Setup". From there you will select "iDrac Settings" from the menu and then "Lifecycle Controller". After that then Disable the "Collect System Inventory on Restart".
* hit F2 key on post under the "System Setup" click on "System BIOS" and under the "Miscellaneous Settings" you can see "In-System Characterization" click down menu and select "Enable-Fast Boot"
Let us know if it helps.

Ok. Here is what we have:
-Memory Testing is disabled and has always been
-R820 BIOS is up to date (2.7.0)
-Collect System Inventory on Restart is disabled
-The In-System Characterization does not have a Fast Boot option. It only gives you Enabled or Disabled. I have tried Enabled and Disabled and it is still very slow on the BIOS startup screen unless I hit Esc.
What test is it doing on the BIOS splash screen? If simply hitting Esc lets you get out of it, shouldn't it be easy to disable?
Thanks!

Hello Jaredax,
Thank you for the update. You are correct it will not stop the memory test.

Hello Jaredax,
What is the OS? If Windows please take a look at this article:
Long time to start or reboot with 12G Server PowerEdge and Windows 2016 due to memory test

Please let me know if this helps.

Aha. Interesting read! That seems to be my issue.
The OS I have installed is Hyper-V Server 2016. So given that info, there is really nothing that can be done eh? Because Hyper-V will override that setting anyway right?
