Replace RAID-1 faulty drive with larger one
Hello everyone.
My PowerEdge R610 with PERC H200 has failed one of its 146GB SAS drives. It's a simple RAID-1 array with only 2 disks.
I was searching for a replacement drive but found out that even from Dell there aren't new drives that size, only larger (300GB+, at least in my country's website, Brazil). Couldn't find even from third-party sellers.
My question is: would a larger (certified) drive work as a replacement, sync and restore its faulty state, even if that extra space is forever lost?
This server acts only as an Active Directory controller and I definetely don't need more space than it already has.
Thanks for the help!

The available amount of space shouldn't matter; what matters is the numbers of drives in the Raid array; so you could replace the faulty one with a larger one and have no ill affects.
