Upgraded RAM Having Network issues
I upgraded the RAM on my Dell Poweredge R210 II Server from 4gb (2 x 2GB) to 16 GB ( Hynix 4 X 4GB PC3L 10600E ECC Un-Buffered 1.35v). It boots up fine and the system recognizes the 16GB of RAM, however ever since I’ve did the upgrades I am having network connectivity issues. It will not connect to the network as it previously did. I am wondering if there’s a solution to this. Should I upgrade the BIOS would that help? Thank you in advance.

Hello @mjkc,
There is not any specific reason for a network problem after a Memory upgrade... Apart for an bad manipulation during the upgrade or some risers or cables disconnection.
Did you use a anti static wrist strap during the intervention?
Did you check all cables and risers before closing?
Of course, you can update BIOS. You should always keep BIOS firmware version updated. But this is not related to the problem you are having. You can try to check the firmware for the Network card, this is more related.
Or you can look the server hardware log cheeking for errors. You can also check the OS even viewer.
I'm sorry I cannot offer you more ideas but I have not much information about the problem.
Regards.

I did not use an anti static wrist but I was very careful to ground myself before installing the RAM. I no longer think the RAM is the problem since when the system checks the memory, it is fine and it recognizes 16GB. I’ve upgraded the BIOS and everything went fine. I double-checked and there were no cables disconnected.
How would I go about checking the firmware for the network card? I’m running VMware ESXi 6.5.

Anti-static charms are a hoax - you don't need them.
BIOS should be kept up to date as standard server maintenance, so it should be nearly up to date (best practice: update before upgrades) if ever upgrading the system. Probably not related though.
What do you mean it "does't connect like it used to"? What exactly is the problem - what is it doing?
To check the network adapter firmware, you'd need to connect to the iDRAC or the OpenManage VIB installed in ESXi.
Did you also update the iDRAC/LCC?
