Fabric splitter migration to array splitter?

Migrating from a HDS and CX4 fabric splitter to a VNX to CX4 array splitter. Is this just a new deploy or is there a migration path? Aslo does the CX4 need new licensing, since it's moving to array based splitter?

Hi there,

No need to redeploy unless the intention is to move to an RP/SE config?

There are no restrictions on having both types of splitters in the same local site/cluster. Currently only one official IF -> array splitter migration process that has been offically qualifed and the document, RecoverPoint IF to Symmetrix Splitter Migration Technical Note Rev A01, is available for download from EMC Support Online website. This document details a process which allows a volume to be dual splitter attached and therefore attempts to mitigate a full sweep scenario

Although the document refers to IF - > Symmetrix splitter migration there is no reason why the same process of dual splitter attachment shouldn't work for the VNX. So although this process hasn't been officially qualified you have nothing to lose by trying it as the alternative is recreate the CGs with ther VNX -> CX4 as you migrate data to the VNX.
