standalone kutils

I have the kutils provided on CD, and am not quite sure how to install on my host. I thought I could just copy the folder to the host, but if I try to run kutils.exe, I get the 0xc0150002 error (which is documented in the Knowledgebase). I did download and install the vcredist.exe from Microsoft, which doesn't give me any indication that it installs or not, and I still get the same error. I tried the C++ 2005 vcredist_x86.exe, same error.

Any help would be appreciated...
