Best practice question: clone/snaps for test/dev
Hi all,
For making a test/development copy, what would be best practice?
A. Create clone of production database and create Test/Dev snapshots from clone.
B. Create Test/Dev snapshots right of production?
C. Create Test/Dev clones right of production?
Option A sounds sensible to me but what is best practice out there?
PS We will be using VNX2/Oracle12c/AppSync2.0.

B - i would only do it for light reporting, you are putting load on production devices after all
C - expensive but might be required if testing performance/load ..versus functionality/development.
A - i like this option but you need to investigate and validate what happens when clones get refreshed ( i know you asked the question in VNX forum)

Great, thanks for the feedback! It confirms my thoughts, but not having the experience with the technology yet, I wanted to get some thoughts from the field first.
Will check out option A indeed (well spotted:-))
