Change mirrorview ports

Is there are way to change the mirrorview port of a CX4 once is has been assigned?

I don't believe there is, but am hoping I'm wrong.

The MV ports are fixed on a CX4 - I recall that its the highest numbered port on the SP

hi,

you can change the mirrorview port  . the default port is port2 for mirrorview. need into mode of engineer.

Although the MV whitepaper says that it is fixed I thought that there might be a way around this.

Is it common knowledge that the MV port can be changed in engineer mode? What are the pitfalls of changing the MV port? Should the change be performed by EMC only?

hi, yes,the MV port can change at engineer mode. no risk for change port. only affect if you plan useing to MV feature.

MV ports cannot be changed in engineering mode. Those prots are pre-defined at the factory and they cannot be changed. Can you please point me to documentation that states that the ports can be changed?

None of the MV documents state that the ports can be changed. Can you at least put a screenshot of that paragraph?

hi,Ernes Taljic

if you are emc exployee, if you can ensure the artical isnt   exist. for the feature , i hear it from another emc colleague.

becaue of you  are suspect, so today i  contract to the emc colleague, he told me , the feature of port cannt change.

sorry, i am wrong. you are right.  i apologize.

at that time, when  i try to create a sancopy. the port2 cannt use for sancopy. i have to think about other way.

i ask for another colleague.  the colleague told me , i can change mode of port2. but it is so complex for me.

so i   give up change mode of port2. choice to add another fc module to VNX.

I'd some experiences that change MV port on CX3, CX4 before.

If you initialize the Clariion array by re-imaging the Flare OS, MV port will changed to last FC port which is installed on array.

As a example, If your CX4 have 2 FC ports per SP, default MV port is FC 1.

If you install UltraPlex FC port cards which have 4 FC ports each and initialize array by way of Flare re-imaging, the MV port will changed to FC 5 which on UltraPlex FC cards.

The reverse way works too. ( Changing port from 5 to 1 with UltraPlex card removal)

This will destroy all RAID groups and LUNs existed on array.

But if you want to change MV port to other way such as 1 to 0 or 5 to 4 etc, it is impossible..
