DNS Timeout issue in failover

Hi All,

we are facing a unusual situation when doing a exchange 2k3 failover on the DR Site.

DOMAIN SERVER - INDIA
Primary Server - INDIA.
DR SERVER - MEXICO.

we have configured everything on the DR site by /disaster recovery switch, everything working fine on DR site. when we load the exchange module on the primary site it gives an error cant access remote registry . so we installed it on dr site and did a failover with specs disabled. but when we try to failback on the DR site . The Exchange system Attendent and Information Store services fails to start giving dependency error . when we check the ports by using netstat command. we found that the DNS service port takes much time establish connection. can anyone tell me how to increase its timeout value in replistor.

Thanks,
Pritam

I spoke to engineering and there are no configuration options that deal with the timeout of the DNS query or update functionality. We issue a standard Windows API call to the operating system and timeout would be a function of the OS.

However, from your question, I don't think that is what is causing Exchange to fail on the Target site. It would probably be a good idea to contact EMC Support for further diagnosis.
