Ken,

I have discussed this with engineering and the only way we can think of would be to create a list of servers you wish to check on and then use the Command Line Interface (CLI) to query each node in turn and generate a file which lists the basic status of the servers. That file could then be copied to a common location. I assume it could also be sent via email using a command file as well.

This is “not” an easy thing to do and would certainly take some work to create a command file to do the queries and pipe the output to a log file. We do have a couple of customers who do similar things to create a report of basic node status.

There is one other possibility. You could set up just the RepliStor GUI Console on the machine of the person who is monitoring the status. There is no license required for just installing the GUI. You use the same install file but do an advanced install options and uncheck the Server and just install the Console. Then you can add a user name for that person and when he/she logs into the GUI they can be given only the permissions to monitor and not change anything. Please check the Admin Guide for more specific information on using user profiles.

Thanks…JS

Hi JS.

Thanks for the reply. Too bad there is nothing built into the GUI Console. This would definitely be on my wish list as a feature in any future versions. We have a number of products including from EMC that are configured to send us brief status reports at selected times of day which we can check via Blackberry either by email or SMStextmail to know if we need to take care of something urgently. We are at least have a dozen, depending on the oncall schedule, that check out the status reports.

Anyway, if I have some time, I'll take a look at the scripting method you mention and the RepliStor CLI commands. Maybe we can come up with something that'll get us what we're looking for via scripting.

Thanks again for your time and reply.

Ken
