I would suggest running an ft_shutdown to stop the ftagent process. If it fails to stop the process, then do a kill of the process. Try running ft_gethostbyname to verify the FT_HOSTS entries on the server.

Found the problem, it is the hosts file on the server. it seem that we need to put the node name as the first name on the hosts file. the guy who set this up is using localhost as the first entry.
