VPLEX & RPA co-existence

Hi All,

Quick question. In a VMWare Stretched Cluster environment. If I have a VPLEX distributed volume across Site A and Site B and my whole workload runs in Site A (Site B is just there for VMWare vMotion/HA/FT in the case of planned and unplanned datacenter outages), can I (and should I) also protect that same distributed volume using RecoverPoint so I can leverage SRM for DR purposes? even though HA/FT will likely bring the VMs up in a DR scenario.

Further to this... what if I split my normal workload across both sites in an Active/Active scenario so I have VMs running in Site A and Site B hosting their disk files on the VPLEX distributed volume, could I still use RPA to protect the volume? Does this get more complicated?

Ive been reading VPLEX between 2 datacenters close together and RPA to a 3rd datacenter further away, but in my situation I only have 2 datacenters and want to ensure I'm more than covered in a DR scenario... and wanting to meet very close to 0 figures for RTO/RPO

Still reading and learning

Roo

Hi Rooey,

Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility.  Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and questions can go unanswered for a long time.

You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right.  Then search for and select: "Replication Support Forum" which would be the most relevant for this question.

Thanks Fenglin Li! I'll try that now. I was wondering if I had done something wrong.
