How to create users?

Hi, I am starting with SMARTS, and try to create a User, I follow the steps described on Service Assurance Manager Configuration Guide 1. Select the Launch User Wizard toolbar button. The User Creation Wizard appears. 2. Type the name of the new user. The username must be unique. Click Next. 3. Choose a user profile for this user from the drop-down list. 4. Do one of the following: ¿ Click Next to display a confirmation screen. EMC Smarts Service Assurance M 3-8 manager Configuration Guide User Configuration for the Global Manager ¿ Click Finish to create the user. 5. Add the username and password in the serverConnect.conf file used by the Global Manager. My problem is in Step 5, I have four serverConnect.conf files: C:\InCharge7\IP\smarts\conf\serverConnect.conf C:\InCharge7\SAM\smarts\conf\serverConnect.conf C:\InCharge7\IP\smarts\local\conf\serverConnect.conf C:\InCharge7\SAM\smarts\local\conf\serverConnect.conf Which one I need modify? I try to modify all but nothing happens, according the conf information I need put the user like *:admin:changeme:All *:newuser:newuser_pwd:All What am I doing wrong? Hello,The following rules should be respected regarding EMC SMARTS software and changing files:C:\InCharge7\IP\smarts\conf\serverConnect.conf => DO NOT CHANGE ANY FILESC:\InCharge7\SAM\smarts\conf\serverConnect.conf => DO NOT CHANGE ANY FILESThe user specified changes and configurations must be done in the local\xxx directories.C:\InCharge7\IP\smarts\local\conf\serverConnect.conf C:\InCharge7\SAM\smarts\local\conf\serverConnect.confTherefore you have to change the C:\InCharge\SAM\smarts\local\conf\serverConnect.confadd the following entry:*:username:password:AllAfter the changes restart the SAM domain and it should work.Regards,Ada

Don't forget you must use the sm_edit utility to open editing sessions for these files if they are encrypted. Although this does not unencrypt existing entries it does ensure that new entries are encrypted.
