snmp traps
how do i get smarts to correlate the information recieved in snmp traps, and the status of various elements?
i.e. when i get a trap for a switchport down, the host that is conected to that port isn't reported as down until smarts tries to poll the device according to the regular polling interval.
i would of thought it would be "smart" enough to figure it out from the trap.

never tried that ...
but let me try to reply ... you can do it through an asl script that will be executed upon reception of your trap and will change the status of the interface
this can be done through the trap_mgr.conf or the escalation paths
i hope this helps
cheers
