Archiving problem after upgrading EmailXtender
Yesterday, I upgraded EmailXtender to the latest version. When I tried to archive messages today using a distribution list, nothing happened. I just got a message after 4-5 seconds that the task is completed. Archiving works fine when I choose a mailbox. Anyone else got this problem?

Did you check the timestamp of your DLC file?

Your DLC file has to be refreshed every 24 hours. It contains information about the Distribution Lists in your Organisation. Copying an old version of the file will not help. To refresh the DLC manually you can use RefreshDLC.exe, a utility included with the EX software.
Hope this helps,

I tried to use RefreshDLC.exe, but no DLC file is created. Any suggestions what could be the problem?

You could try to stop the Address Rule Service, then delete the DLC file, and the restart all EX services. I don't know how large your environment is, but it can take a while (up to 8 hours) for the DLC file to be created. If the file still isn't created, you could remove the connection mailbox, activate the changes, re-add the connection mailbox, and activate the changes once more. After that the file should be created.
Hope this helps,

Hope all is well.
The EmailXtender.dlc file is created on each EmailXtender environment, and is unique to each environment as well. Therefore, it is unlikely that emc support would provide you with a EmailXtender.dlc file.
The DLC file is a file that is kept local to the emailxtender system to help brake down the members of the distribution lists within the environment.
Best method to attempt to resolve this issue would be to rename the current EmailXtender.dlc to Emailxtender.dlc.old and restart the EmailXtender Address rule service.
I would then keep a close eye on the status of the OTG Event log for indication of any possible failures.
Post them here if you're running into issues, or open a support ticket and have one of our TSEs assist you.
Thanks,
Chris

the dlc is unique and copying won't work (at least I cannot imaging that). In fresh Exchange installations I always have issues creating the first dls-file. So create a new fake distribution list in AD, restart the EX services and then the dls-file will be created some time afterwards. That has worked for me all the time, once the Outlook MAPI profile was created successfully.
Hope that helps,
Jochen.

With clients that don't want to journal I have them create a dummy mailbox that won't ever receive mail and use that for the connection mailbox.

If so, do the event logs say anything about your connection to the Exchange server when you restart the services?

I removed the connection mailbox before upgrading and put it back after the upgrade was finished.

When I installed EmailXtender last year, we had problem with messages getting stuck in the ex_30_rule_queue. I created a service request. A person from EMC support called me and we had a web session. He discovered that the EmailXtender.dlc was not created, but he was not able to fix the problem. So he solved it by sending me a DLC file (I have the mail from EMC support containing the dlc file, if you do not believe me). After using that DLC file, everyting was working fine, until I upgraded a few days ago.I also checked our backup to confirm that the DLC file in use before the upgrade, was the one EMC sent me .
I also created a service request regarding my problem.
